Strong membership growth and NOK 1 billion revenue for SATS
SATS increased its membership base by 18,000 members the first three months of the year, which resulted in revenues of NOK 1,011 million, up 67% from the same period last year. Operating profit has turned from a record loss of 165 million to a profit of 30 million, despite restrictions at the beginning of the quarter.
- With strong membership growth, opening of several new centers and increased customer satisfaction, SATS leaves a good first quarter behind. All restrictions have been lifted and members are back at our clubs with a higher level of activity than before the pandemic. In the last two years, we have opened 35 new fitness centers and significantly improved our digital offer through the launch of Mentra by SATS. Going forward, we will accelerate the growth of SATS to make even more people healthier and happier, says CEO Sondre Gravir of SATS.
SATS has also strengthened its product offerings at the clubs, including new training concepts such as HIIT Zone and further development of Mentra by SATS, which will in future be our digital training platform for SATS members in all four markets. The Rflex interactive training mirror will also soon be available for purchase in Finland and Denmark.
Ready for further growth
SATS raised NOK 600 million in a private placement this quarter to finance further growth. So far this year, the company has acquired Gym Gruppen AS in Greater Oslo and Bare Trening Sør AS in Sørlandet in Norway, in addition to three new establishments. The Nordic fitness club market is suitable for consolidation, and SATS is planning further acquisitions and new establishments in the future. An additional 15 new clubs has already been confirmed to open in 2022 and 2023, and there is still capacity in the existing fitness centers for further membership growth.
